ABOUT US

In the heart of Pyrgi, Chios, one of the most picturesque and historic villages on the island, we welcome you to Rosette Apartments. Our rental rooms are not just a place to stay – they are a living experience within history, a part of the medieval heritage of the area.

Our building, constructed before 1800, is part of the village's perimeter defense zone, a fortified complex that protected its inhabitants from pirate raids. These houses were built in a continuous row, without windows or doors facing outward, maintaining their natural defense. Rosette survived the devastating earthquake of 1881, which leveled three-quarters of the island. Despite the immeasurable destruction, the building withstood the test of time, preserving its authentic architecture with stone vaults, wooden frames, stone-built lintels, and traditional arched doorways.

The name Rosette is no coincidence. During the renovation of one of the rooms, a Genoese rosette was uncovered—a unique architectural ornament that inspired us to name the rentals after it. The rosette has been preserved and restored, highlighting its artistic and historical value.

A stay at Rosette Apartments will transport you to another era, where medieval architecture meets modern comforts. From the semi-basement, once used as a storage space for crops, to the bright pounti—the atrium that served as the heart of the house—every corner exudes authenticity and tradition.

We do not simply offer a place to stay, but an authentic experience where history and architecture become part of your daily life.
